Nominations Sought for DeSales Alumni Hall of Fame

Nominations Sought for DeSales Alumni Hall of Fame

Lockport, NY- DeSales Catholic School is seeking nominations for the 7th Annual Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.  This recognition has been created to annually honor outstanding DeSales alumni, living or deceased, who have achieved distinction in their lives and careers after graduation.  Bearing the motto "Enshrining Our Past, Ensuring Our Future," the Hall of Fame induction serves as the highest honor bestowed by DeSales Catholic School. Nominations are accepted year round, but must be received by April 30th to be considered for induction this year.

The 2018 inductees honored at the Hall of Fame dinner last October, were the late Donald Murphy ’50, Karen Judge Rahill ’87, Matthew J. Murphy ’70, Michael E. McCarthy ’69 and James P. Langton ’54.

Nominations to the Hall of Fame may be submitted by parents, relatives, friends, alumni, and members of the communities served by DeSales. Each nominee's credentials are carefully evaluated by a volunteer selection committee.  This selection committee includes DeSales alumni from several different decades, as well as current a DeSales faculty member.

Nominees must be graduates of one of the Catholic schools affiliated with DeSales (DeSales High School, St. Joseph’s Academy, St. Mary's School, St. Patrick's School, St. John the Baptist School, Lockport Catholic School, or DeSales Catholic School), and are first eligible for selection fifteen calendar years following their class's graduation.  Selection is based on the nominee's achievements in a variety of areas, such as their career and professional life, civic and community involvement, personal and family accomplishments, as well as their embodiment of the Catholic values taught by the school's patron, St. Francis de Sales.

This year's Hall of Fame Induction dinner will be held on Thursday, October 3rd at the Lockport Town & Country Club in Lockport, NY.  Proceeds from the event will fund tuition assistance grants at DeSales Catholic School, providing an opportunity for current and future students to enjoy the benefits of a quality Catholic education.   Requests for tuition assistance increase every year, and events such as the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame Induction dinner will provide additional financial support for students in need.  Tickets for the Hall of Fame dinner will go on sale in late June, with the announcement of the 2019 honorees.

Nomination forms are available online at www.desalescatholicschool.org or by contacting the school's Advancement office at 433-6422 x407.
