DeSales Names Hall of Fame Inductees

DeSales Catholic School is pleased to announce the selection of the fourth group of inductees to the school's Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.  This recognition has been created to annually honor outstanding graduates of the Catholic schools in Lockport, living or deceased.  Hall of Fame inductees embody the teachings of the school's patron, St. Francis de Sales, through their numerous accomplishments in their professional, volunteer and family lives.  Bearing the motto "Enshrining Our Past, Ensuring Our Future," induction into the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame serves as the highest honor bestowed by DeSales Catholic School.

The 2016 inductees are:

The late Sister Mary Alice Dean, SSMN, Class of 1961

Paul Mullane, Class of 1978

Dr. Kathleen Riley, Class of 1972

David Ryan, Class of 1960

The late Thomas F. Tracey, Class of 1978

These deserving individuals will be honored at the 4th Annual Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame Induction Dinner on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Lockport Town & Country Club.  The following morning, the inductees will celebrate Mass with the current students and faculty at DeSales Catholic School, where the names of these five distinguished alumni will be added to the Hall of Fame display.  Tickets and sponsor information for the dinner can be obtained by calling the school's Advancement office at (716) 433-6422 ext 407.  Chairmen of the Alumni Hall of Fame dinner are Mark Jaekle and Mike Mullane.

This special event helps to fund tuition assistance grants at DeSales Catholic School, providing an opportunity for current and future students to enjoy the benefits of a quality Catholic education. DeSales is a Regional Catholic Elementary School in the Diocese of Buffalo, with the mission to be a center of excellence inspiring individual students to reach their greatest potential inside and outside the classroom.  Events such as the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame Induction dinner help to provide thousands of dollars in tuition assistance grants to deserving students each year.

Nominations to the Hall of Fame were submitted by alumni, parents, relatives, friends and members of the communities served by DeSales.   Graduates of DeSales High School, St. Joseph’s Academy, St. Mary's School, St. Patrick's School, St. John the Baptist School, Lockport Catholic School, and DeSales Catholic School are eligible for consideration.  Each nominee's credentials are carefully evaluated by a volunteer Hall of Fame selection committee,  comprised of DeSales alumni from several different decades, as well as current and former DeSales faculty members.
