Classroom Spotlight: Mrs. Cathy Fraass

Mrs. Cathy Fraass, Middle School Math teacher tries to get her students moving as much as is manageable and applicable to a lesson. Recently, when her 6th graders were learning about the coordinate plane, she constructed an actual coordinate plane on the floor of her classroom. They talk about the elements of the coordinate plane and Mrs. Fraass teaches them how to plot points by having them physically do it with their own self. Mrs. Fraass describes the benefits of teaching this way, “I believe it helps the students to remember the process using this multi sensory approach.”
