Classroom Spotlight- Middle School Social Studies, Mrs. Lori Asher

*Friday Classroom Spotlight*
Middle School Social Studies teacher Mrs. Lori Asher knows how to capture the attention of her students. When they first enter her classroom their attention goes to the corner of the board where a new historical figure awaits them everyday. Each week, there is a different theme, whether it is historical people from Lockport, interesting athletes, religious saints, or Supreme Court justices. Mrs. Asher gives her students interesting facts about these figures, piquing their interest in the world around them. Mrs. Asher describes the response from her students, “I've seen my students make connections with their families on several topics. I love to hear stories about their connections!”
Ellie, a 7th grader described the activity, “We really like the historical figures on the board. It is a fun way to learn history.”
To see 7th graders, Ellie and Delaney describe the historical figures in Mrs. Asher’s classroom, watch the video below.
